According to the Bible, justice is not just police officers enforcing statutory law, but someone coming alongside the suffering and lowely and bringing restoration, order, and thriving. Justice is something every person is called to do in every facet of society. Are you looking to learn more about what the Bible actually says? If you’ve ever tried to read straight through the Bible, it doesn’t take long to become confused, offended, or bored. Some people, understandably, become discouraged and may even give up engaging the Bible directly, or else they may begin to treat it more as a magic eight ball, asking “What does this mean to me?”, rather than trying to understand the Bible on its own terms?” The Bible was written for us, but it was not written to us. We’re not the original audience. It was written in foreign languages, in unfamiliar genres, to a foreign culture. We’re going to look at some key words and concepts employed by Scripture to better understand what these words meant in the days when the Bible was written.
