I talk with Coach Paul Kolody fron Hunterdon Central Regional high in New Jersey. I spoke with Coach Kolody at the NHSSCA conference and he was a great coach to catch up with. Lots of great things going on at HC that I had to have coach on and talk about. We talk about his programming , scheduling, movement exercises and all the other exciting things going on with his school and some upcoming conferences going on in his area that are going to be epic. Paul Kolody earned his Bachelors of Science in Athletic Training and his Masters of Science in Physical Education, with a concentration in Exercise Science as well. He is certified by the National Athletic Trainers Association, (NATA/ATC), as an Athletic Trainer, the National Strength and Conditioning Association, (NSCA/CSCS), as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach, and USA Weightlifting as a Level One Club Coach. Paul started his career as an Athletic Trainer in 1995 at Metuchen high, then became the Athletic Trainer and Strength Coach for the Somerset Patriots Baseball Club in 1998 and worked directly with the team through the 2004 season. In 2003 he helped open Somerset Medical Center’s Sports Performance & Rehab Center, managing that facility until March of 2011. At the center, Paul trained athletes at the middle school, high school, college and professional level. He then became the strength coach at Hunterdon central regional high where after years of hard work the board of education and administration are going to now construct a new 5000 sq/ft performance center set to open in the Summer of 2017. HSSC 61: Paul Kolody Hunterdon Central Regional talks Red Devil Strength in New Jersey

I talk with Garson Skelton from Harker Heights High school out in Texas. Had a chance to talk with coach over the weekend at the National high school strength coach association national conference down in Atlanta. Coach Skelton has a unique situation he is in being located right next to Fort Hood and having to deal with Military kids coming and going all the time. He needs to be ready for new athletes all the time at varying training ages. We talk about programming, motivation, being flexible, how to get the most out of your athletes and more. Very interesting stuff. Garson Skelton is in his 3rd year at Harker Heights High School.  He started his coaching career assisting the strength and conditioning staff at Baylor University in 2009, primarily working with Men and Women’s Basketball Teams. He also spent time working in the Exercise Biochemical Nutrition Laboratory. In 2011 he spent time at the University of Houston assisting their strength staff during the offseason for football, volleyball, women’s basketball, and swimming.  Coach Skelton attended Baylor University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in physical education and a master’s degree in exercise physiology. He currently holds his CSCS with the NSCA, as well as completed the certification requirements of the Level 1 Olympic Lifting Coach through USA Weightlifting, and as the requirements to be a certified sports nutritionist with the ISSN. HSSC 60: How to be a Flexible Strength Coach with Garson Skelton Harker Heights Texas

I talk with Travis Lombardozzi from Brunswick high blue devils in Brunsick Ohio. Very excited to share this one with you. Coach Lombardozzi gives some great insights into his program and has some really good takeaways that you can use with your own program and athletes. Some topics we discuss are how to create your program from scratch, how to great relationships with admins, board members and other funding resources, using heart rate training tools, how to know if your programming is working and much more. Coach L also gives some great advice on how to keep the athletes motivated as well. Travis Lombardozzi enters his fourth season as Head Coach Strength & Conditioning coach with the Blue Devils.  Travis has been a prominent figure within the Cleveland Coaching/training scene in both high school and NCAA for over 8 years. Prior to his coaching career, Travis swam at Cleveland State University for four years. HSSC 59: Building a program with Travis Lombardozzi Brunswick Blue Devils Ohio

I talk with Shawn Powell from Cannon School located in Concord North Carolina. If you are from the southeast region you may know of coach Powell and his background and it is a pretty cool one that a lot high school strength coaches haven’t had the chance to experience. Coach Powell brings a lot of knowledge in coaching to the high school level, but he says he is always learning and wanting to better himself and his program everyday. There are lot of great nuggets of info in this one, so you may want to listen to this one again.   Shawn Powell was named as the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach at Cannon School in May 2014. Coach Powell joined Cannon after spending five years as Head Strength and Conditioning Coach at Penske Racing and seven years as Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach with the Carolina Panthers. Coach Powell, a North Carolina native, holds a Bachelor of Science in Health Promotion and Kinesiology from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and an Associate of Arts in Health Fitness Technology from Brevard College. HSSC 58: Shawn Powell talks Cannon School Cougars Strength & Conditioning

I talk with Tyler Weddle from Shiloh Christian high School located in Arkansas. Coach Weddle runs a great program and Shiloh is known for state championships not only in football but other Olympic sports as well. Lots of great things going on there.
